Benss BX-57 F16 PMP Supports PDF Files

Benss BX-57 F16 PMP Supports PDF Files

The Benss BX-57 F16 player pictured above is said to have PDF support (as an upgrade to the original Benss BX-57 player), which might be a first for Chinese portable media players and if not a first, then at least an extreme rarity. The player has a 4.3-inch screen, is ‘ultra-thin’ at just 7.89mm thickness and will start out in 8GB flavour. The player is capable of decoding videos up to 768p, so the standard HD 720p will be supported, including video file formats MKV, AVI, WMV, VOB, ASF, etc. It is unknown if the F16 in the model number alludes to the Boxchip F16 chip which is a Sochip in disguise, but up until now no Sochip player (at least that I know of) can view PDF files so that theory becomes less likely when given more thought. Then again, it can be said that there is little point in trying to extract sense from model numbers for a lot of the PMPs that come out of China.

The player certainly does look interesting with PDF support, which is what makes it stand out from the heaving and throbbing throng of 4.3-inch 720p capable PMPs. On a final note, it seems that this new revision of the BX-57 player is, unfortunately, still looking as ugly as ever with those buttons on the front surface.
