Straight off the bat we can see that the T59 comes with several hardware buttons (we’re hoping there’s a lock switch to prevent all those pocket-plays) as opposed to the T51′s single buttons and focus on it’s touchscreen UI. Whether or not the T59 will come with a similar UI, we don’t yet know. We can also see that the shell, in fact, the overall design seems to be very much different and almost thicker - something we wouldn’t expect from a follow-up device. With no official specs or other info released yet, we can only assume that the T59 will surpass the legendary T51 (legendary as an audio player of supreme sound quality which contradicts it’s affordable price tag) as it is hailed as its successor. The image also indicates a DC port, a line out port and a (head) phone port - interesting as most players don’t offer an additional line out. We’re really hoping for more information to come of this player soon. Click after the break for the X19HD.

The Teclast X19HD looks pretty sleek and neat, and since it’s a Teclast made player, we’re sure it’ll have great sound quality. Like the T59, there’s not really any specs revealed on the X19HD yet, but we’re looking forward to hearing what chip it uses as well as its other specs. We do know that it’s sold for around 299 CNY, which like most Teclast players is not much at all for a player that we’re assuming offers high quality audio playback.

(Via MP4 Nation Blog.)
Mauriciohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11272197995879924848noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5361618363895535959.post-89720844390126717772011-03-25T20:21:00.001-07:002011-03-25T20:21:24.556-07:00Sceptre Luna Projector/ MP3 Player Combo
Sceptre Luna Projector/ MP3 Player Combo

The Sceptre Luna is actually a combination of a pico projector and an MP3 player. Curiously, though, Onda have not yet revealed the full specs of the VX580W, though they have hinted at the same hardware configuration as the VX580R - the same RK2818 processor. Though the RK2818 processor typically indicates Eclair, a whole wave of official releases and firmwares recently have the Rockchip processor moving to Froyo (2.2) which is a nice step forward. As we’ve said before, the code has been cracked and 2.1 is no longer the ceiling, but the ground floor of a two story building. WiFi is also present meaning this isn’t a ‘Smart PMP’. RK2818 means 720p HD video playback across a wide range of file types, as well as generally stable Android implementation. Typically RK2818 pads also have quite good 3G USB dongle support, but nowhere is mention made of USB HOST capability, so that’s still up in the air. It looks to be a 7-inch model, likely with a resistive touchscreen.

(Via MP4 Nation Blog.)
Mauriciohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11272197995879924848noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5361618363895535959.post-57444689506569133112010-08-11T12:56:00.001-07:002010-08-11T12:56:31.390-07:00Cube B39HDS: Cheap 768p
Cube B39HDS: Cheap 768p

Cube are releasing another model, a 4.3-inch budget player that is capable of 768p video decoding, which means it easily passes the 720p orthodoxy (1280x720), indicating it uses the Sochip SC8600 chip, also known as the Boxchip F16. This newest model, the H500HDS, is a 1080p capable player that’s being marketed as being affordable more so than brutally powerful (though 1080p is nothing to scoff at). The H500HDS sports a 5-inch screen and is powered by the Boxchip F16 AKA Sochip SC8600. The SC8600 chip originally was only a 720p capable chip but that boundary seems to have been breached as quite a few players have the SC8600 and are able to playback 1080p video. The standard file formats are supported (eg. MKV, AVI, RM/RMVB, MPG, MP4, VOB etc.). The player also has PDF reading capability - something we’ve seen in SC9800 chips but not so much in SC8600 ones, has OTG support and comes in 4GB flavour.

(Via MP4 Nation Blog.)
Mauriciohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11272197995879924848noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5361618363895535959.post-56834205205278016322010-08-04T06:36:00.003-07:002010-08-04T06:36:51.413-07:00Bmorn BM-999 Get’s Minor Aesthetic Upgrade
Bmorn BM-999 Get’s Minor Aesthetic Upgrade

You remember Raz’s post about the pre-production BM-999 that Bmorn were kind enough to send him. Well the BM-999 has been officially ‘debuted’ and we are treated to some minor cosmetic changes that really do make this MID stand out. Those changes you can clearly see in the red. This MID (or is it a tablet?) sports an 8.9-inch 1024x600 screen. We could call it either an MID or a tablet, but the high resolution screen really does look grand, seriously throwing the hardware-spec-wise comparable APad out of the ring. The BM-999 is also powered by the Rockchip Rk2808 chip, which means that it doesn’t boast the raw power that we’ve seen in other large pads, but with some firmware customization the device can certainly run Android smoothly. It will, however, only be running Android 1.5.

Other features of the tablet:

HDMI/Component/Composite Video out

Responsive touchscreen (more so than what comes on the aPad)

Viewing stand on the back of the player

Accelerometer

Front facing 1.3MP camera (was no on the unit i had but will be on final production version)

Microsd slot

Internal memory of 2GB, 4GB, 8GB and 16GB.

As Raz put it: ‘Overall the Bmorn BM8999 is very promising, the overall quality far exceeds that of the generic RK2808 tablets and the large screen makes it really nice for web browsing and emailing, which is what most people generally have liked from other RK2808 tablets.’

(Via MP4 Nation Blog.)
Mauriciohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11272197995879924848noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5361618363895535959.post-2270560595416541712010-08-04T06:36:00.001-07:002010-08-04T06:36:31.180-07:00iriver story "Touch Edition" revealed
iriver story "Touch Edition" revealed

It looks like iriver has a touching new story to tell. There isn't a lot that separates it from the nooks and <s>crannies</s> Kindles released to date, but it does have support for OGG, as well as some MS Office formats.

iriver story Touch Edition Features:

Display: 6.0' e-ink Touchscreen (600 x 800 resolution)

Capacity: 2GB internal, plus SDHC expansion (up to 32GB)

E-book support: E-Pub, PDF, TXT, FB2, DJVU, CBZ

Office support: DOCS, PPT, XLS, HWP

Audio support: MP3, WMA, and OGG/Voice Recorder

Dimensions: 126mm x 162.8mm x 9.5mm

Like the previous Story, this new model will likely be exclusive to the Korean market.

(Via dapreview.net : News.)
Mauriciohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11272197995879924848noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5361618363895535959.post-14739062800256987562010-08-04T06:35:00.003-07:002010-08-04T06:35:58.534-07:00ONN V11 Full HD PMP
ONN V11 Full HD PMP

ONN (Owen) has recently released another Full HD PMP ‘V11′ for the Chinese market. It looks like an APad, with its 7-inch 800x480 screen, but it is powered by the Chinachip CC1800 chip, meaning this bad boy is not only capable of PDF reading, but also of full 1080p video playback. However, the e-book reading feature seems to the the one being pushed the most, with file format support of PDF, CHM, PDB, EPUB, HTM, UMD etc. (though the video playback file format support is just as extensive and standard, eg. MKV, MOV, AVI, FLV, MPG etc.). The device also has a text-to-speech feature. Not sure if this device has a gravity sensor.

Quite frankly, this is far too powerful to be thought of as only an e-book reader. It is also very evidently a PMP, capable of 1080p video playback which puts it in league with all the other big boys. It’s a shame this wasn’t an MID, though, as it would have surely trumped the major competitor in its size range: the APad.

(Via MP4 Nation Blog.)
Mauriciohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11272197995879924848noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5361618363895535959.post-89944332277391276352010-07-30T06:20:00.003-07:002010-07-30T06:20:23.616-07:00Huawei S7 Ready To Ship
Huawei S7 Ready To Ship

The Huawei S7, a long-awaited and much anticipated MID/tablet PC is now finally ready to ship after months of delay and confusion. To refresh your memory, the Huawei S7 MID runs on the Google Android OS version 2.1, is powered by an impressive 768MHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, even though previous reports had it clocked at 1GHz. To refresh your memory, the HOTT MD500 is a fairly unremarkable 5-inch MID that is set to run Google Android 1.5 - a surefire hint that inside it houses the Rockchip Rk2808 chip. Another surefire hint is that the MID is capable of decoding up to 720p videos, which is the limit of the 2808 chip. The firmware is looking to be slightly customised with preloaded apps such as QQ. All in all, nothing to get terribly excited over, though it does add another MID into the 5-inch range which is a welcome addition. It, however, is not selling for particularly cheap with a 899 Yuan price point attached which will no doubt be inflated when sold overseas. The RAmos W7 is a better choice.

(Via MP4 Nation Blog.)
Mauriciohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11272197995879924848noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5361618363895535959.post-27124016774718807412010-07-30T06:19:00.003-07:002010-07-30T06:19:31.887-07:00Media Mogul PMP With DVB-T
Media Mogul PMP With DVB-T

Looking for a new budget-friendly PMP that comes with a built-in DVB-T receiver? Can’t say the naming is creative but it is certainly straight forward. The SmartQ T7 is coming in 2 models: 3G enabled and not (T7-3G and T7 respectively.) Both the 3G and non-3G model have WiFi connectivity. This devices packs a 7-inch screen and runs on Android OS version 2.1 (which is nice) and will be able to decode videos of up to 1080p which extends the versatility of this MID/tablet even further. The SmartQ T7 also packs a 4500mAh battery *phew* which should provide this device with some impressive battery life times. Even snazzier is that it is being said that the 3G version will be able to send text messages and duplicate some phone function. This player is fully 1080p capable, WiFi connectable and runs on WinCE 6.0 (like their previous player) and it seems to sport a similar UI to their previous iteration. The UI does indeed look good. The Cowon V5W packs a 4.8-inch 800x480 touchscreen, has HDMI out, several dictionaries, an e-book reader, email and weather apps, games as well as an ‘Office’ suite. The lines blur between MID and PMP again with this player and that is a thoroughly welcome direction for advancement. The Cowon V5W will come in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB flavours.
