Teclast X23 USB DAP

Teclast X23 USB DAP

x23

Following Cube’s C3 USB MP3 player we reported on earlier in the week,  Teclast have got their own take on the pen-drive styled players.

The X23 has a very similar design with the black and white OLED screen, directional controls but the USB part is capped rather than retracted.

Soundwise it could do the business with its use of the Rockchip RKnano and it supports MP3, WMA, AAC, WAV, FLAC, APE and more.

The sound is coloured using the Microsoft PlayFX system. No price or capacities have been announced.

Toted as an all over upgrade, the Newsmy A9HD is the A9’s trip to high-def.

It has a 4.3 inch screen and is 11mm thick, cased in metal and offers 720P decoding.

The A9HD has missed a trick with the ommission of HDMI TV output though meaning it could get overlooked in the HD PMP battle.

MPIO is still alive, announces new touchscreen PMP

It's been a while since I've heard the name MPIO. The Korean company was never a big name in the DAP industry, but they made some good players with some unique designs. Today they announced the V7, a touchscreen player not unlike the millions we've seen already this year. Check out the specs below:

Features:

  • Capacity: 4, 8, 16GB
  • Display: 3.0' Touchscreen (400 x 240 resolution, 580K colors)
  • Audio: MP3, WMA, OGG, FLAC, APE, ACC
  • Video: AVI, WMV, MPEG-4, FLV, RMVB
  • Built-in Accelerometer
  • Extras; FM Tuner and Transmitter, Voice Recorder, Text reader
  • Battery Life: 15 hours for Audio, 5 hours for video
  • Dimensions: 98 x 51 x 10.5mm

Looking through our news archive, this is actually the third year in a row that I've announced MPIO's comeback. It seems like they announce a new player then vanish back into obscurity for another year. Well no more! MPIO is officially dead to me, even if they release new players in the future. It worked for 2Pac.

Samsung R0 coming soon, already hitting Russia

Since the leak of the Samsung R0 at the end of July, little has been heard about this swanky little player. The player which is speculated to circulate worldwide has hit Samsung’s Russian site (thanks gmp3). Did anybody say, ‘Coming soon?’

Samsung YP R0

YINLIPS YDP800 “Phantom” MP5 Player + Mini Projector

ydp800

The photo above suggests that the Yinlips YDP800 can project a bigger image of your gaming screen. If this PMP does support it, I’d be lining up to get myself one. We’re not getting a lot of details of this mini Projector and MP4 player from IMP3. They say it can project up to 12 lumens and play 64-bit games. Wireless control is also supported. The YDP800’s Alibaba page, however, says only 32-bit gaming support and emulation for NES, GBA, GB, GBC, SMC, SFC. Alibaba also specifies an LCOS projector that supports 80 inches maximum projection. Other specs: 3.5-inch LCD display, infrared remote and infrared handheld wireless control, support for 16GB microSD. Yinlips will be the first manufacturer to make a mini projector portable player available to the public. I’m not surprised. Oh, btw, the YDP800 weighs all of 300g.

OPPO SMART S33 Touchscreen MP4 Player, not an iPod Touch Clone

oppo-s33-owntaWe saw this cutie a few months ago and noted that if it had WiFi connectivity, we would have filed it under iPod Touch clone. The OPPO S33 is your basic touchscreen PMP with very few feature highlights. If looks can qualify as a feature, the S33 is one of the cuter ones. Ownta is now making them available on pre-order status. The 4GB will set you back just a little over a hundred bucks. The specs are a 3-inch 480 x 272 touchscreen LCD, ID3, LRC and TTX support and an FM tuner.

Video support of the SMART S33: AVI, RM, RMVB, MEPG1, MEPG2, MEPG4, ASF, VOB, DAT

Audio support of the SMART S33: mp3, wma, ape, FLAC, OGG, wav, AAC

There’s a bit of gaming support, too. Fishing, Constellation love, Lianliankan should be pre-loaded though better inquire first about this. The OPPO S33 promises a little bit of other things as well like a karaoke, function, calendar, stopwatch and even strange functions like notepad gravity sensing system. All for $110.

SmartQ V5 MID strives to be relevant, may succeed on some level

Not to be confused with the SmartQ 5 (how could you ever, right?), the SmartQ V5 MID is essentially a V7 with a less spacious screen. Within, you'll find a 600MHz ARM11 processor, 256MB of DDR2 memory, WiFi, Bluetooth 2.0+EDR, 2GB of internal storage and an SD expansion slot. There's also USB 2.0 connectivity, an HDMI output good for shooting out material at up to 1080p, a 3.5 millimeter headphone jack and a 4.3-inch touchscreen (800 x 480). You'll also find a format support list longer than your latest cellphone bill, though both a price and release date have remained elusive thus far. Here's hoping it's cheap enough to matter.

The S540 is a Sony player, which means the same menus, format support, video support, screen resolution etc etc as the previous models. New in this model is integrated stereo speakers, FM and voice recording and a couple of more tweaks.

Teclast T51 is an Audiophile Quality 1080p PMP?

teclast-t51-audiophileWe’re not entirely sure what Teclast means by the T51 being an audiophile’s PMP. We’ve always assumed every PMP maker makes sound quality one of the top priorities. But here goes Teclast claiming the T51 should appeal better to real audiphiles than other PMPs in the market. To be more specific, Wolfson audio chips are now becoming legends as a cheap solution for better sound quality. Hopefully, the Wolfson WM8740 inside the T51 proves will do well.

On top of everything mentioned, the T51 supports 1080p HD videos. The 4.3-inch TFT screen supports 480 x 360 resolution, so I suppose the T51 is not exactly a videophile’s PMP, though there’s always HDMI out. It can play an army of video and music codecs, too, which is one of the reasons we are always considering these Chinese MP4 players. The other reason is price: for an 8GB 1080p HDMI out player with a spanking wolfson chip, you will only have to shell out $155. Not exactly cheap, but it’s damn reasonable.

Yinlips YDP301 destined for UK

Yinlips YDP301 destined for UK

Yinlips YDP301

Yinlips YDP301 player

Yinlips, a Chinese manufacturer, have released some spectacular products as of late.  Who can forget their projector PMP? We have now learned of the latest product from the company: Yinlips YDP301 nicknamed ‘English Lipp‘.

With a height and width similar to that of a credit card, the YDP301 makes the most of its small size packing a proportionally large 3-inch screen (400 × 240 pixels).  With included video support, the 4GB storage capacity is slightly disappointing.

Believe it or not, we’re told that design of the player was based on inspiration from a warship - we kid you not. Apparently, this is reflected in the player’s adoption of ‘the fuselage alloy’ and ‘black metallic luster’. We’re just not too sure where the blue LED fits in the mix…

The YDP301 supports a host of file types: MP3, WMA, APE, and FLAC audio formats; AVI and FLV video formats; and JPG, BMP, and GIF image types.

Additional features incorporated into the device include a voice recorder, a text reader, and expansion card slot and multitasking functionality.

PURE's Elan II does DAB time-shifting on the go

Okay, yes, we know that domestic radio is a bit passe these days, but DAB is still kicking strong, and everybody likes portable tuners that can pause and rewind. Such is PURE's Elan II, which isn't quite as lovingly styled as the EVOKE-1S or as feature-packed as the Sensia, but it provides a cheeky '80s look and offers the company's ReVu technology, allowing 15 minutes of pausing, rewinding, and fast-forwarding of live radio. It'll do FM too, naturally has a line-in for your choice of PMP, and will rock out plug-free for an impressive 35 hours when you fit an optional battery pack, which looks to cost about £25. The radio itself is £99.99, and since we get no DAB love here in the States we won't bother converting those numbers into their dollar equivalents.
